Blueberry Plant Certification Program
The New Jersey blueberry inspection program and specifically the virus-free program for blueberry plants are completed at participating blueberry nurseries. The mother plants and nursery stock are inspected visually twice per year for a variety of pests including red ringspot virus (BRRV), and shoestring virus (BBSSV).
The participating growers propagating blueberry plants in New Jersey have mother plants tested yearly for blueberry scorch virus (BlSV). Mother plants are sampled for the virus, using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), laboratory analysis.
