- What role does the BPU have in the proposed Susquehanna-Roseland Transmission line?
In accordance with the Statute, the Board must determine, after hearing, whether the “…proposed installation of the development in question is reasonably necessary for the service, convenience or welfare of the public.” - Where will the proposed line be located?
The Board will evaluate the route of the transmission line. PSE&G has chosen route B, which begins in Hardwick Township, Warren County, proceeds east to Andover Township, Sussex County, and on to Jefferson Township, Morris County. The route continues east to Montville Township and then turns south to Roseland Borough, Essex County. It follows an existing 230 kV power line for the entire 45-mile (in New Jersey) length and will pass through 15 municipalities. They include: Andover Township, Boonton Township, Byram Township, East Hanover Township, Fredon Township, Hardwick Township, Hopatcong Borough, Jefferson Township, Kinnelon Boro, Montville Township, Newton Township, Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, Rockaway Township, Roseland Boro, Sparta Township and Stillwater Township. - How can I participate in the proceeding?
Public hearingsWritten notice of the date, place and time of the public hearings will be served upon the clerks of the affected municipalities and counties. Additionally, notice of the public hearings will be published in newspapers of general circulation in the geographic areas affected, and will be posted on the Board’s website at www.nj.gov/bpu. At this point, the Board has not yet determined the number and location of the public hearings, but is expected to do so in the near future.
Written commentsAn opportunity to submit written comments will be provided, and such comments will become a part of the Board’s record in this case and will be considered by the Board in making its final determination. A deadline for submitting written comments has not yet been set, but will be included in the written notice of the public hearings.
