Peter A. Inverso
Former Senator Peter Inverso was elected to the New Jersey State Senate in November 1991 and re-elected in each
succeeding election to represent the 14th Legislative District, which covers parts of Mercer and Middlesex
counties. He did not seek re-election when his most recent term expired in January of 2008. He has served as
Assistant Majority Leader, Chairman of the State Government Committee, Vice Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations
Committee; Co-Chairman of the Law and Public Safety and Veteran's Affairs Committee and Deputy Minority Leader
and a member of the Law and Public Safety and Veteran's Affairs Committee.
Senator Inverso is the primary sponsor of major legislation, including: "Meghan's Law"; the Meghan's Law Internet
Notification amendment; Electric Deregulation and Energy Competition Law; "The Fair Credit Reporting Act";
the Victim's Impact Statement; the School Breakfast Program and Outstanding Scholars Recruitment Program.
He has also spearheaded legislative funding for vital municipal services that helped municipalities stabilize
their local property tax rates.
Senator Inverso serves as President and CEO of Roma Financial Corporation, President and CEO of Roma Bank, and
Chairman of the Board of RomAsia Bank. He is a Certified Public Accountant with a B.S. degree in Commerce and
Accounting from Rider University (1960), where he was the recipient of merit scholarships awarded by the Board
of Trustees and General Motors Corporation. He holds an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from The College of New
Jersey. He has been honored by many community and charitable organizations including Catholic Charities, the
Central Jersey Broadcasters Association, the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, the New Jersey Naval Militia
Foundation, the New Jersey Medical Society, Kidsbridge, Thomas Edison State College Foundation, and the Boheme
Senator Inverso is a trustee of Project Freedom, which provides housing assistance for people with disabilities
and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, which provides services to
individuals and families to improve their quality of life and alleviate human suffering. He is also a member of
the Board of Trustees of Robert Wood Johnson Health Care Corp at Hamilton, a trustee of Rider University, and a
member of the New Jersey State Legislative Joint Committee on Ethical Standards.
The Senator is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Robert Wood Johnson Health Care Corp
at Hamilton, is a past board member of Angel's Wings, which provides respite care for at-risk children under the
State's care, and is a past member of the Board of Governors of the New Jersey League of Community Bankers.
Senator Inverso resides in Hamilton Township. He and his wife Carol have five children and eight grandchildren.
