|New Jersey Teachers for Biodiversity - Earthwatch Institute|
|To form a coalition of citizens and scientists working together to sustain the world's environment, monitor global change, conserve endangered habitats, explore the heritage of our peoples, and foster world health and international cooperation. Since 1971, over 8,000 educators have participated on Earthwatch expeditions. Teachers, librarians, administrators, high school students make up 20 percent of the 4,000 volunteers who join Earthwatch expeditions each year.
Eligibility:Full-time elementary, middle or high school educators and high school students aged 16 and over are encouraged to apply. High school students are eligible for awards during the summer following graduation. Earthwatch also encourages school administrators (guidance counselors, librarians, principals) to apply.
Funding:Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis with notification beginning as early as February and through May. Teachers are encouraged to apply by March. Placements will continue into the summer if funding is not exhausted.
