Purpose: The Implementing New Curricular Learning with Universally Designed Experiences (INCLUDE) Phase I project was derived from the department’s vision that all students will achieve New Jersey’s core curriculum content standards. There are still a number of students in NJ that have not achieved proficiency in mathematics on the high-stakes standardized eighth grade test. Many of these students attend districts that are identified as in need of improvement and many of the students are English language learners or students with disabilities. The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) is committed to providing assistance to school districts to ensure every student achieves academic success. The INCLUDE project is designed to ensure all students in the general education classroom including those with mild to moderate disabilities, struggling students and English language learners are provided the necessary accommodations in the general mathematics classroom that will support their achievement of the Core Curriculum Content Standards. The basis for the INCLUDE grant is to improve academic achievement in mathematics by using educational technology effectively.
Eligible Agencies: The Implementing New Curricular Learning with Universally Designed Experiences (INCLUDE) is a limited competitive project. It is open to all New Jersey local education agencies (LEAs), but limited to only those agencies that meet specific criteria to be categorized as “high-need” school districts. Those agencies are listed in Appendix A of the NGO.
