(TRENTON) – The Property Tax Convention Task Force will hold a series of public hearings next month to accept testimony on conducting a constitutional convention to fix New Jersey’s property tax system.

The meeting times and locations are as follows:

n      Monday, October 4, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Bergen Community College

n      Wednesday, October 6, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Mercer Community College

n      Tuesday, October 19, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Camden Community College

Governor James E. McGreevey in July signed legislation establishing the Property Tax Convention Task Force as part of his three-pronged FAIR (Fair and Immediate Relief) plan. He also signed separate bills to freeze government spending and to provide immediate property tax relief to nearly two million senior citizens and middle class families.

The task force held its first meeting today at Rutgers University in New Brunswick.
