TRENTON, N.J. -This Thursday at noon, Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes and members of the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders hosted a ceremony recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month.
The County Executive, Freeholder Anthony Carabelli, County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello, and Trenton Councilman Manny Segura all spoke briefly about the importance of people of Latino heritage in Mercer County's history and culture. Awards were presented to three outstanding individuals from Mercer County's Latino community.
Honored were Eva Alicea-Roman of Ewing, Dr. David T. Abalos of East Windsor, and Millee Medina of Trenton. In addition, local musician Arturo Romay returned for this year's County-sponsored Hispanic Heritage celebration, delighting attendees once again with classical Latin guitar numbers.
