TRENTON, N.J.-Mercer County continues to offer Free Income Tax Preparation Assistance at County Connection, Mercer County's satellite location in Hamilton.

The AARP Foundation is providing Tax-Aides to assist with 2007 tax preparation at County Connection. Representatives will be available on Thursdays March 6, 13, 20, and 27 between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m. The program is provided free of charge for low- and middle-income taxpayers with special attention for those ages 60 and older. Appointments are necessary in order to devote attention to your needs. Appointments can be made by calling County Connection at (609) 890-9800.

County Connection is located in the Acme Shopping Center on Route 33 at Paxson Avenue in Hamilton.

March 12, 26 - Consumer Affairs information, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Representative from Mercer County Office of Consumer Affairs will be on hand to answer questions about credit, home improvement, automotive and Internet fraud.

March 12, 19, 26 - State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Free help to NJ Medicare beneficiaries who have problems with or questions about their health insurance.

March 12, 26 - Mercer County Housing and Community Development Department representative, 1-4 p.m. Information on First-time Homebuyers Program, Helping Hands for Seniors program, Weatherization program, and Residential Home Improvement program.

March 18 - Mercer County Horticulturalist Barbara Bromley answers questions about spring planting, weeds, insects and more, 4-6 p.m.

March 14 - Surrogate Services Workshop, 10-11 a.m. County Surrogate Diane Gerofsky will present information on Surrogate services. The session will highlight information on Administration of Estates, Probate of Wills, Living Wills, and Powers of Attorney. Please call to reserve a space.

March 14, 21, 28 - State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), 10 a.m.-noon. Free help to NJ Medicare beneficiaries who have problems with or questions about their health insurance.

March 20 - Human Services information, 1-4:30 p.m. Representative from County Department of Human Services will be on hand to provide information on various services including Office on Aging, Division of Public Health, Office of Disability Services and Division of Youth Services.
