TRENTON, N.J. - On March 2, 2009, Mercer County Park Commission, along with tennis recreation programs nationwide, will join the United States Tennis Association's Tennis Night in America Program, which aims to get as many young people as possible involved in the game of tennis.
Mercer County is excited to participate in the USTA's Tennis Night because we believe it's important for our youngest residents to be healthy through play and recreation," said Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes. "Tennis is a sport that almost anyone can learn, and our Mercer County Tennis Facility offers classes for athletes of all ages."
At Tennis Night, Mercer County hopes to fill all classes to capacity and encourage fitness through tennis. Sign-ups begin at 9:30 p.m. March 2 through the Mercer County Tennis Website, https://register.communitypass.net/mercer.
Program opportunities include:
Mercer County Summer Tennis League, which is a flex league that runs from April 27 to July 5. The league will accept the first 700 registrations and the session ends in a playoff tournament from July 11- July 23. The league deadline is April 5.
Junior and Adult Lesson Programs for the spring, summer and fall Sessions for all levels and ages will be offered as well as the Mercer County Tennis Championship Tournaments comprising Century Doubles; Men's & Women's "A" and "B" Singles; Doubles; Mixed Doubles; 35, 45, 55 & over Senior Singles; Junior 12, 14, 16 Boy's & Girl's Singles; The Mercer County Shootout Tiebreak Tournament; and The Stone Age Open Retro-tournament.
