TRENTON, N.J.—The Mercer County Commission on Abused, Neglected and Missing Children and the Cherish the Children Foundation are seeking nominations to honor volunteers at the 24th Annual “Cherish the Children” Awards Banquet.
Each year, Mercer County partners with the Commission on Abused, Neglected and Missing Children and Cherish the Children Foundation—which seek to improve the quality of life of children in Mercer County—to recognize local volunteers who have dedicated their efforts toward making a difference in the lives of children.
The Commission and the Foundation are seeking nominations for volunteers in three categories.
- Administrative: A volunteer such as a board or advisory member who actively participates in the administration of an agency that works with children
- Program: A volunteer who works directly with agency clients
- Organization: A civic, corporate or other organization that has donated services, organized or sponsored an event to benefit children, or otherwise demonstrated support for the nominating agency
The Commission and Foundation also will honor a professional who works on behalf of children in Mercer County. This person should exemplify the commitment needed to enhance the life of children in Mercer County, and his or her work should surpass the usual professional obligations and be an inspiration to colleagues.
In addition, the Mercer County Youth Services Commission will honor Mercer County high school students who have demonstrated a commitment to community service within the County. To be eligible for the award, the student must be attending high school, must live in Mercer County, and have performed his or her community service in Mercer County. Finally, the student must have volunteered with an organization for a minimum of a year.
All nominations are due by 4 p.m. February 5, 2010. Nomination forms are available on the Mercer County Human Services web page at http://nj.gov/counties/mercer/departments/hs/.
