TRENTON, N.J. - Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes and Freeholder Chairman Pasquale “Pat” Colavita led the team cheer in honor of Trenton Thunder baseball’s General Manager Will Smith at a meeting of the Freeholder Board on Nov. 14. Smith was recently named Eastern League Executive of the Year. He will collect his award Dec. 5 at the opening session of the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings in Dallas, Texas. “Will Smith is known as one of the hardest working general managers in all of baseball and he is deserving of this recognition,” said Hughes.
In presenting a joint proclamation to Smith on behalf of the County Executive and the Freeholder Board, Colavita noted that the Trenton Thunder have given more than $4.5 million back to the community and welcome approximately 5,000 people to each of its games at its home field at Waterfront Park. “When you see the joy on the faces of families as they enter Waterfront Park, that just tells the whole story of what Will does,” said Colavita.
Smith begins his fourth year with The Thunder in 2012. He was joined in the audience by his wife Jada and their daughter Samantha.
