FRONTIER AIRLINES: Kate O’Malley
TRENTON, N.J. - Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes announced today that Frontier Airlines will expand its low-fare service at Trenton-Mercer Airport in Ewing with the addition of nonstop service to Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine/Jacksonville, beginning May 2, 2014. To celebrate this announcement, Frontier is offering fares as low as $49 each way if purchased by Feb. 8, 2014.
"The Mercer County region's appeal to Frontier Airlines and its customers continues to grow, and the addition of this route to historic St. Augustine, Florida, offers travelers another opportunity to explore both of these exciting destinations," Hughes said.
In fall 2013, Mercer County’s Trenton-Mercer Airport underwent a rapid, multi-million dollar overhaul, the bulk of it paid for through federal grant dollars. The airport reopened Nov. 8 and is earning high marks from the traveling public.
“It took a great team effort to complete our renovations within the tight two-month window,” Hughes said, “and we are thrilled that Frontier Airlines continues to expand its slate of destinations from Trenton-Mercer Airport.”
St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city, is conveniently located near Jacksonville and Daytona Beach and provides a cost-effective way to reach popular tourist areas. St. Augustine boasts a year-round mild climate, perfect for exploring the area’s rich history or enjoying the coast. Frontier will be the only airline to provide service to the St. Augustine airport, a convenient alternative to larger, more expensive airports in the region.
Frontier is the only airline providing scheduled service out of Trenton-Mercer Airport, the gateway to New Jersey’s state capital, all of central New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania, including metro Philadelphia. The addition of St. Augustine brings Frontier’s total nonstop destinations served from Trenton-Mercer Airport to 14, the others being Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago-Midway, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Indianapolis, Nashville, Orlando, Raleigh-Durham and Tampa.
Frontier has scheduled three weekly flights between Trenton-Mercer Airport and St. Augustine. All Frontier flights from Trenton-Mercer will operate on 138-seat Airbus 319 aircraft.
Conveniently located near Exit 2 on I-95, Trenton-Mercer Airport avoids the hassles, delays and lines often found at other Northeast airports.
