• Where can I obtain a copy of my birth certificate?
    You may obtain your birth certificate from the municipality you were born in.
    The Bureau of Vital Statistics for the State in which you were born, generally located in the Capital of that State (in Trenton it is located on South Stockton Street or online at www.vitalchek.com.

  • How can I obtain a copy of my deed?
    You may come into the office and obtain a copy at the rate of $.50 per page, or; you may send a request in writing to the Mercer County Clerk's Office, 209 South Broad Street, Trenton, New Jersey 08650, at the rate of $2.00 per page.

  • How can I find out if there are any outstanding liens on my property, if a lien has been satisfied of record, or find out recording information?
    You must come into the Mercer County Clerk's Office in person and perform a search of your property, or; hire a title company or title searcher.

  • What do I need to do to have someone removed from or added to my deed?
    You must have a new deed from up by an attorney or an individual who knows how to draw up a deed.  It must have all proper legal information in order to be recorded.

  • Who do I contact to find out what type of lien is showing up on my credit report listed under Mercer County Registry?
    Although your credit report states an outstanding lien and to contact Mercer County  Registry, it is not through the Mercer County Clerk's Office.  You must contact the State of New Jersey, Customer Service at (609)-421-6100.

  • To whom is a passport issued?
    Only U.S. Citizens or Nationals.  Each person must obtain his own passport.

  • What is necessary?
    Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.  A prior U.S. Passport or a valid birth certificate which includes your given name and date and place of birth, date the birth record was filed and recorded, and naturalization certificate.  All of the above documents MUST have the raised seal or certification of the official record custodian.  Hospital certificates, notifications of birth registrations, notarized photocopies of birth certificates, and/or duplication machine copies without an official raised seal or certificates are NOT valid documents.  Valid birth certificates can be secured either from the municipality in which the individual was born or from the State Bureau of Vital Statistics.

  • What type of photograph is necessary?
    Two recent photographs measuring 2x2 are necessary.  The photograph should contain your face from the bottom of your chin to the top of your head including hair.  They may be in color or black and white.  The photographs must be clear front view - full face taken in normal street attire without dark glasses or hat.  They must be printed on permanent type thin paper with a plain white background.  Family snapshots, vending machine prints and school photos are not acceptable.  The Mercer County Passport Office now takes passport photos for a $15.00 fee and $10.00 for seniors.

  • What is the cost?
    $110.00 - is the fee for an adult passport (anyone sixteen years of age or older).  This fee must be in the form of a check or money order payable to "U.S. Department of State."
    $25.00 - is the execution fee which may be paid in cash or check made payable to "Mercer County Clerk."
    $80.00 - is the fee for a child's passport (anyone under the age of sixteen including newborns).  This fee must be paid in the form of a check or money order made payable to "US Department of State."
    $25.00 - is the execution fee which may be paid in cash or check made payable to "Mercer County Clerk."
    Adult passports are valid for ten years; a child's is valid for five years.  Children under sixteen require BOTH parent's signatures.

  • How long does it take to obtain a passport?
    It normally takes four to six weeks to process your passport.  There is an expedite service that costs an additional $60.00 plus overnight delivery costs.  ALL APPLICANTS MUST APPEAR IN PERSON! For children under 16, both parents and the child must appear in person!
