County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello announced today the inauguration of Mercer County’s Public Records Electronic Search System (McPRESS).  The system provides online access to information on property related transaction records for all of Mercer County dating back to 1997. Mercer now joins eleven other New Jersey counties allowing public access to land title records via computer.

“After months of testing and retesting, members of the pubic and County businesses will now be able to view and print pages of documents that have been recorded in the Mercer County Clerk’s office,” said Clerk Sollami Covello. 

McPRESS is a viewable and printable electronic program available to professional title searchers, law firms, and members of the public. The first two pages of a document may be viewed free. Further information is available by subscription. The Clerk’s Office will offer three subscription levels: Yearly - $1,200.00, Quarterly - $400.00 or, a 1-time document fee of $5.00.

 “By digitizing land records and making them accessible on-line, I am fulfilling my promise to modernize and make the Clerk’s Office more efficient,” said Sollami Covello. “The Office of the Mercer County Clerk continues to make every effort to provide the most current and cost effective technologies in the recording and retrieval of property records,” noted Sollami Covello. She added social security numbers were redacted by her staff prior to the release of these land records over the internet. “My top priority is protecting private information, and therefore, we masked non-public information prior to release.” Sollami Covello said further.  “Another layer of protection is that the service is subscription-based, therefore limiting users to those who sign up to access the County’s system,” Sollami Covello further said.


Paula Sollami Covello, with the cooperation of the NJ Department of Archives and Record Management (NJDARM), is also completing a massive electronic scanning project started in 2007. Public records from years prior to 1977 will be added to the on-line system as the Mercer County Clerk’s Office continues its conversion of older record books to the new digital format. The new digital access technology will include the ability to redact and remove any private information such as social security numbers or other personal information.

Researched copies of public records will be available over the internet and will contain a watermark, noting the copy as unofficial. Official or certified copies of documents without an internet watermark may be obtained at the Mercer County Clerk’s Office either by visiting the office located at 209 South Broad Street, Trenton, NJ 08650 or by mailing a request with the appropriate fees.  Plain copies are available for $.10 per page; while mailed copies are $2.00 per page.  The fee for a certified copy is $10.00 for the first page plus $1.50 for each additional page, whether you come into the office or send in a request by mail. The fees are set by the State of New Jersey.
