Paula Sollami Covello
Mercer County Clerk
County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello announced that her office will participate in PASSPORT DAY IN THE USA, a nationwide event held in conjunction with the US State Department in Hamilton.
On Saturday, March 27 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, the Mercer County Connection in Hamilton will offer special hours for acceptance and processing of US Passport applications. The County Clerk will provide additional staff to assist residents with passport applications and photos. The Mercer County Connection is located in the Hamilton Square/Acme Shopping Center on Highway 33 & Paxson Avenue in Hamilton.
To apply for a US Passport, residents will need 1) Proof of US citizenship in the form of a state certified birth certificate, a US naturalization certificate or a previous US Passport; 2) Proof of identity in the form of a current driver’s license or state issued identification card. A US Passport is valid for ten years for adults and five years for minors. The cost for a passport is $75 for adults and $60 for minors plus a processing fee of $25. The federal government requires a separate check for each passport application. Passport photos will be taken on-site for $15 or $10 for senior citizens and minors. The Clerk’s Office will accept checks or money orders for payment.
Federal passport guidelines now require both parents to appear in person -- or one parent in person with required documentation -- when applying for a passport for a child under 16.
Reservations are preferred. To guarantee a time call 609-890-9800. However, walk-ins are welcome and every effort will be made to accommodate residents. For those who will be unable to attend PASSPORT DAY IN THE USA, the Mercer County Clerk’s office processes US Passport applications on a daily basis, Monday through Friday during business hours at the County Clerk’s Main Office, 209 South Broad Street in Trenton. In addition, residents can apply anytime for a US Passport at the County Connection satellite office. The satellite office opened by County Executive, Brian Hughes, offers daily plus limited evening and Saturday hours for the convenience of Mercer County residents. Passport photos are available at both locations.
