TRENTON, N.J. – Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello reminds residents that Tuesday, May 4 is the last day to apply for a Vote-by-Mail ballot through the mail to vote in upcoming Trenton Mayoral election.

“In New Jersey, any voter can vote by mail for any reason,” Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello said. “Under the new Vote-by-Mail law, voters do not have to be sick, working, or out of town to request a ballot,” Sollami Covello added.

A registered voter may apply for their ballot by completing and mailing an easy Vote-By-Mail application that must be received by the Mercer County Clerk’s Office seven days prior to the election. After the mail-in deadline, a voter may apply for a ballot, in person, at the Mercer County Clerk’s Office until 3:00 P.M., May 10, the day before the election.

To request a Vote-by-Mail application, voters can call 609-989-6494. Vote-by-Mail applications also are available on the web at in both English and Spanish. To apply in person, the Mercer County Clerk’s Office is located in the Old Courthouse at 209 South Broad Street – 2nd Fl., in Trenton.

In the event there is a June 15 runoff election in the City of Trenton, the new voter registration deadline will be May 25.  For further information on voter registration, contact the Mercer County Superintendent of Elections Office at 609-989-6750.
