The Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders recently presented Hamilton resident Patrice Jetter with a proclamation honoring her medal winning achievements at the 2010 Special Olympics New Jersey Winter Games held at Mountain Creek, Vernon, New Jersey. Jetter took home the Gold Medal in the Super G race and won silver in the Giant Slalom.

According to their web-site, the mission of Special Olympics is, "To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community."

In addition to her adventures on the slopes, Jetter is an accomplished artist and has also taken up scuba diving. She works part-time at Allies, Inc., a statewide non-profit agency that aids, and advocates for, people with disabilities.
