GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

General Description:
Under supervision of a Campus Police Sergeant, Lieutenant, and/or other supervisory officer in the Campus Police Department and in cooperation with municipal, county, and state law enforcement officers, provides foot and vehicular patrol security and surveillance for the entire college campus. Takes measures to safeguard the lives and property of all members of the college community and of visitors to the campus. Investigates criminal, civil, and other complaints (including those of motor vehicle violations) committed by or against the college and community, and observes established regulations and policy in such work. Separates and arrests individuals as necessary to restore order at a domestic dispute in compliance with Domestic Violence and Intervention Act. Provides assistance and protection to persons and property in and about state owned and leased buildings, offices, grounds and parking area; maintains orderly conditions, and takes the measures required to assure observance of the law. Duties include, but are not limited to giving assistance in emergency situations, patrolling areas, directing callers to proper areas, directing traffic, escorting offenders from the premises, investigating complaints and perform related duties as required. 

Requirements:
Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of an approved high school equivalency certificate. Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey. Knowledge of basic first aid, emergency response is highly desirable. Applicants must have ability to perform all essential functions of the position and successfully pass a background investigation.
