Description

In any organization, critical thinking is the bridge from failure to success, from ineffectiveness to effectiveness.  Critical thinking -- the mental ability to actively and skillfully process, conceptualize, apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information to reach an answer or conclusion -- is crucial to any well - functioning organization. Critical thinking allows teams to build positive and meaningful relationships and successfully complete projects as they learn to think and perform smarter.

In this course information will be provided on the processes for developing critical thinking skills in complex and diverse environments.  Participants will work as individuals and in small groups applying these higher order concepts as they examine and determine their preferred thinking styles, and the best course of action to resolve matters and make sound, enduring decisions that benefit all.

Learning objectives include:

  • Define critical thinking

  • Define left brain - right brain theory

  • Identify barriers to decision making

  • Identify and analyze the critical thinking process

  • Identify critical thinker's skill set (effective communication techniques)

  • Create explanations

  • Identify techniques for thinking creatively

  • Engage in creative thinking exercises
