Federal Foreclosure Programs

makinghome affrdable.govMaking Home Affordable (MHA) is a key federal program designed to help struggling homeowners avoid foreclosure. Homeowners in need of assistance can work with a HUD-approved housing counseling agency free-of-charge to understand their options and apply to MHA for assistance.

State Foreclosure Programs

NJ Home Keeper ProgramThe New Jersey HomeKeeper Program – The HomeKeeper Program was designed to offer financial assistance to New Jersey homeowners who were in danger of losing their homes as a direct result of unemployment or underemployment.

The program was very successful and all program funds have been committed or are in the process of being committed. Therefore, as of November 30, 2013, the HomeKeeper application portal is closed to new applicants.
