Multifamily Weatherization Assistance Program

The Multifamily Weatherization Assistance Program is for owners of multifamily properties of 5 units or more in size.  This program is funded through a NJ Department of Community Affairs (DCA) grant received from the national Weatherization Assistance Program funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and will provide grants for energy efficiency upgrades to existing properties.  Other NJ Weatherization Agencies are also managing programs geared mostly towards single-family homes, but also including some multifamily buildings and projects.  Click here to find a list of other Weatherization Agencies.

Applicant Information

We are currently working through the completion of three Rounds of MF WAP applications.

Demographic & Unit Eligibility
The amount of Weatherization funding and the extent of the approved scope of work is based on the number of income-eligible tenants.
The Demographic Data Collection Fact Sheet in the Related Documents section outlines what is needed for each unit.

Energy Benchmarking
NJHMFA is required to track the energy usage of all common areas and dwelling units participating in the NJ Multifamily Weatherization Assistance Program.  Applicants are required to assist in this requirement through the collection of signed tenant utility release forms and by completing a form and utility release for common area utilities/accounts.  NJHMFA is already in the process of conducting an Energy Benchmarking study of properties in our portfolio.  Please complete the forms located at that site.

Click here to visit the Energy Benchmarking website.

Tenant Outreach
The NJHMFA has been conducting introductory tenant meetings at participating applicant properties.
Tenant flyers and other relevant information is available to the right.

We are in the process of collecting demographic data (50058 & 50059 forms) for income verification.  This information is necessary as soon as possible.
Please submit demographic data to Emily Hill.  You can contact her at ehill@njhmfa.state.nj.us or 609.278.7444
