DCA Awards Over $160,000 in Shared Services Grant
Grants to Benefit Municipalities and Local Governments Across New Jersey


TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Joseph Doria today announced the award of over $160,000 in Sharing Available Resources Efficiently (SHARE) Grants.  The grants will benefit municipalities across the state.

"Governor Corzine has urged local governments to examine sharing services as a way to reduce property tax burdens on New Jersey residents," said Commissioner Doria. "These municipalities, counties and organizations are to be commended for their dedication to driving down costs and increasing government efficiency."

Bordentown Township will receive a $33,000 Feasibility Study Grant, which will help fund a study to determine the possibility of the Township merging police departments with Bordentown City.

Camden County will receive a $45,000 Feasibility Study Grant, which will help fund a study of the county's voice and data systems to determine the possibility of the county implementing a voice over internet provider at various county locations. Participating with Camden County in the study are the Gloucester City School District, the Camden County College and the Camden County Technical Schools.

Corbin City will receive a $20,000 Feasibility Study Grant, which will help fund a study to examine the possible annexation and consolidation of Corbin City with Upper Township.

Little Egg Harbor will receive a $40,000 Implementation Grant, which will be used to help offset transitional costs of improvements to the Township's municipal court facilities as they merge court services with Eagleswood.

Millstone Township will receive a $18,900 Feasibility Study Grant, which will help fund a study of possible shared/joint municipal courts with Roosevelt Borough and Upper Freehold Township.

Wantage Township will receive a $5,656 Implementation Grant, which will be used to help defray transitional costs to upgrade the Township's municipal court facilities as they merge court services with Sussex Borough.

DCA's SHARE program provides assistance for the study or implementation of any regional service agreement, or for the coordination of programs and services authorized under the Uniform Shared Service and Consolidation Act. DCA has awarded a total of $9,749,494 through 161 SHARE Grants since the program's inception in 2004.
