DCA Posts Grilling Safety Tips

TRENTON - Jersey Department of Community Affairs'(DCA) Commissioner Joseph Doria today announced that DCA has posted on the department' website information regarding grill safety. Included on the website is a list of Propane Grill Do's and Don'ts, Propane Grill Consumer Safety information, and a Grill Safety Brochure.

"Four out of five families own a grill and with summer fast approaching, many will be out barbequing once a week or more during the summer," said Commissioner Doria. "I encourage all New Jersey residents and fire companies to review and share these tips, which will help provide ways to ensure a safe cookout."

The grill safety information is provided by DCA's Liquid Petroleum Gas Advisory Board, Division of Codes and Standards and the Division of Fire Safety. Safety tips include keeping the top of the grill open when lighting, not smoking while handling a propane cylinder, not using, storing or transporting cylinders near high temperatures and not storing cylinders in garages, sheds, or any other enclosed indoor areas.
