Heritage Tourism Task Force to Hold Three Public Meetings Across New Jersey
Meetings Will Help Gather Public Input on Heritage Tourism Development

TRENTON - In an effort to capture opinions and enlist support for increasing heritage tourism in New Jersey, the New Jersey State Heritage Tourism Task Force has scheduled three public meetings to be held across the state. The public is invited to attend these meetings, facilitated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation consulting team, to share ideas based on initial recommendations for heritage tourism development in New Jersey.

The Heritage Tourism Task Force was appointed by Governor Jon S. Corzine to develop a statewide masterplan to guide heritage tourism development. Public input from the meetings will be integrated into the plan. A final plan is expected by the end of the year. The task force is being staffed by the New Jersey Historic Trust, an affiliate of the Department of Community Affairs.

"We hope the public will take advantage of these meetings in order to provide the Task Force with information on how they would like to see New Jersey's heritage resources developed and promoted," said Dorothy Guzzo, Executive Director of the New Jersey Historic Trust. "During these difficult times, heritage tourism can be a great economic engine, especially in New Jersey where so much of our nation's history has taken place."

The function of the New Jersey Historic Trust is to advance historic preservation in New Jersey for the benefit of future generations through education, stewardship and financial investment programs that save our heritage and strengthen our communities.
