2010 NJ Governor's Conference for Women Welcomes Attendees From Across the State

ATLANTIC CITY - New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Acting Commissioner Lori Grifa today welcomes women from around the state to the 2010 NJ Governor's Conference for Women at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Keynote speakers include Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and bestselling novelist Anna Quindlen and Emmy Award-winning Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts. Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno will also address conference attendees.

"Women from across the state come to the NJ Governor's Conference for Women to learn, network and get inspired to do great things in their families, communities and workplaces," said Acting Commissioner Grifa. "I am proud that the DCA can be part of such an important event."

The theme of the 2010 NJ Governor's Conference for Women is "A Passport to Your Future." Attendees can choose from 15 different educational workshops in such areas as career development, personal finance, healthy living, business startups and leadership. The session topics and speakers were selected to guide and inspire conference participants from a diverse array of occupations, races, ethnicities, religious preferences, and income levels.

Attendees can also visit a daylong health fair for giveaways and free health services such as blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, exercise demonstrations, nutritional guidance and skin care assessments.

Anna Quindlen will deliver the breakfast keynote at 8:55 a.m. Robin Roberts will speak during lunch, which starts at 12:30 p.m. Lt. Governor Guadagno is schedule to present remarks to conference attendees during breakfast, which begins at 8:30 a.m. Acting Commissioner Grifa will be a panelist in the morning workshop "Glass That's Meant to Be Broken," which aims to encourage women to harness their potential and advance their careers.

The Governor's Conference for Women is hosted by the DCA's Division on Women and the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, a DCA affiliate. The conference is self-sustaining, funded entirely through sponsorship opportunities and registration fees.

The New Jersey Division on Women was established in 1974 by law to serve as state government's central permanent agency for the coordination of programs and services for women. The Division works to create, promote and expand the rights and opportunities for all women in New Jersey.
