Welcome to the 2010 NJ Historic Preservation Conference

On June 2, 2010, preservationists will convene for the annual historic preservation conference in Elizabeth, New Jersey, hosted by Union County College. This year's conference explores the unique opportunities for sustaining our heritage, and demonstrates how the shared vision for a sustainable future is integrated with our appreciation for the past.

Plenary speakers Robert Ivy, Editor in Chief for Architectural Record and
Nancy D. Kolb
, former CEO of the Please Touch Museum, will lead an insightful discussion of the uses of the tangible remains of our past to create a viable vision for a sustainable future. Session topics, tours and workshops highlight planning and preservation tools, interpretation and heritage tourism, restoration and archaeology. The ever popular and relevant Donovan Rypkema, from Place Economics, will conclude the conference with his predictions on the future sustainability of preservation. A book store and exhibitor room complement the festivities. The annual event culminates with a reception in the newly restored Ritz Theatre.
