  • FAMILY SERVICE SPECIALIST TRAINEE


    As a Family Service Specialist Trainee (Bilingual or Non-Bilingual), you will perform field and office work involving collecting, analyzing and recording significant facts.

    Responsibilities may include responding to child abuse/neglect referrals, responding to requests for child welfare services, in-home visits and arranging for residential or foster care placements. The starting salary is $46,315.33.

    NOTE: During the first 12 months, employees hired in the position of Family Service Specialist Trainee (Bilingual or Non-Bilingual) will attend a comprehensive in-service training program, in addition to performing field and office casework duties.

    Family Service Specialist Trainee (Bilingual or Non-Bilingual)
    • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
      NOTE: Bachelors in Social Work or Masters in Social Work preferred.
    • A valid driver’s license is required to perform the essential functions of this position.  Because driving of state vehicles with clients is an essential function of this position, the following may disqualify you from consideration: driving record with five points or more within the past five years; any driving under the influence conviction within the past five years; or, any combination of three motor vehicle violations/license suspensions within the last five years.
    • The ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate sufficiently in English to perform the duties of the position
    • For bilingual positions only, to successfully pass an examination to test your ability to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English.

    Educated outside of the United States?

  • YOUTH WORKER


    The Youth Worker assists in the planning and implementation of therapeutic programs relating to the everyday living activities of problem children to provide for the emotional, social and educational advancement of the individual child, and to ensure the safety and welfare of the residents.

    Youth Workers at our centers provide supervision for children during three, eight hour shifts.  The shifts are: 11:30 pm to 8:00 am; 7:30 am to 4:00 pm; and 3:30 pm to 12 midnight. The starting salary is $32, 199.45.

    Requirements

    • One year of experience in the direct care and/or training of children with social, emotional, psychological and/or behavioral problems in a residential or community centered program.
    • Thirty semester credit hours from an accredited college, which shall have included at least 12 semester credit hours in the behavioral sciences may be substituted for one year of experience.
    • Applicants who possess the twelve specific credits in the behavioral sciences may substitute additional experience for the remaining education.
    • A valid driver’s license is required to perform the essential functions of this position.  Because driving of state vehicles with clients is an essential function of this position the following may disqualify you from consideration: driving record with five points or more within the past five years; any driving under the influence within the past five years; or, any combination of three motor vehicle violations/license suspensions within the last five years.

  • ASSISTANT FAMILY SERVICE WORKER 2


    The Assistant Family Service Worker 2 assists professional staff in providing services to clients with social, emotional, psychological or behavioral problems. This may include training and work programs, home and money management, setting up medical or dental appointments, family planning services, parenting techniques, receiving complaints involving desertion and abusive parents and supplementary supportive visits under the supervision of a case worker; conducts field audits to evaluate and assess situations; does other related duties. The starting salary is $32, 199.45.

    Requirements

    Two years of supervised social service experience with responsibility for gathering social service information from clients and assisting them to identify their needs, or experience in the training of children with social, emotional, psychological, and/or behavioral problems.

    Note:
    Thirty semester hour credits from an accredited college, which must include twelve semester hour credits in the behavioral sciences, may be substituted for one year of the experience listed above.

    Selected candidates will be required to apply for, and successfully pass, an open competitive civil service examination to remain in this position.
