User Guide for Online RADIUS Submittals
Please read the user guide for information on what has changed in RADIUS 4.0 and new requirements for RADIUS submittals to NJDEP.
RADIUS is intended to be installed only on the C: drive of an individual PC. Installing RADIUS to a network drive, or anything other than the C: drive is not recommended, and any problems encountered as a result of doing so will be at the installer’s own risk. The RADIUS Helpdesk cannot assist users in recovering any information that is lost or corrupted under such circumstances.
Instructions for installing RADIUS 4.0
If this is a fresh installation of RADIUS on a computer that has not had any previous version of RADIUS installed:
- Download the RADIUS 4.0 installation file. Go to the folder where you downloaded the RADIUS setup program and run it by double clicking on it.
- Follow the instructions provided to you by the installation program. Once completed, you can start using RADIUS.
- Go to the RADIUS Reference Tables page to download and import any updated tables available on the page. (Instructions for doing this are on the Reference Tables page.) You can prepare applications without importing these tables, but if you do not do so, you may have trouble importing documents received from DEP.
If this is an upgrade to a prior version of RADIUS:
- DO NOT uninstall your previous version of RADIUS. Also, please try not to have many other programs running at the same time while upgrading, as this may slow the upgrade.
- If you have any sticky notes attached to your files within RADIUS, you must delete them. To do this, open each document individually. If there are sticky notes, they will immediately appear on the screen. Select “delete” to remove each one until there are none left. Repeat this procedure for all the documents stored in RADIUS.
- Download the RADIUS 4.0 installation file. Go to the folder where you downloaded the RADIUS setup program and run it by double clicking on it. Make sure that you do not have a previous version of RADIUS open when you run the upgrade. Upgrading the program with the older version of RADIUS is open will corrupt the program
*** WARNING *** *** WARNING *** *** WARNING ***
Unlike older versions of RADIUS (prior to 3.5), this version will automatically transfer your existing documents. There is no need to export and import individual files. However, this process may take a while. If at any time during the file conversion process, you receive a blank box or a "Not Responding" message PLEASE DO NOT EXIT THE INSTALLATION – RADIUS IS WORKING AND MAY TAKE SOME TIME TO COMPLETE. For very large facilities, it may take up to an hour or more. Forcing the installation to exit while the conversion is in progress will corrupt your existing data, and it will not be recoverable. You will see a "finished" message when the file conversion has finished.
When the RADIUS upgrade has completed, go to the RADIUS Reference Tables page to download and import any updated tables available on the page. (Instructions for doing this are on the Reference Tables page.) You can prepare applications without importing these tables, but if you do not do so, you may have trouble importing documents received from DEP.
IMPORTANT!! If you receive an error during installation, DO NOT run the installation again; doing so will corrupt all files in your database, and they will not be recoverable. CALL THE RADIUS HELPDESK, (609) 633-7259, FOR ASSISTANCE!
