We had seven volunteers for the Barnegat Bay Blitz clean-up in Ocean Gate. The volunteers were comprised of Councilman Brian DiStefano, Ocean Gate team captain Diane Gard (of DEP), three additional DEP staff, and two additional volunteers. The Blitz clean-up was focused on the boardwalk / beach area between Ocean Gate and Angelsea Avenues. The clean-up in Ocean Gate lasted only about an hour, due to the extreme rain and wind conditions. In that hour the volunteers collected four bags of trash, which consisted of cigarette butts, drink containers, boat foam, and several shotgun shells.
