Barnegat Bay Blitz
October 19, 2011 Blitz Recap:
The Barnegat Bay Blitz held at the tuckerton Bay Seaport, in spite of the rainy weather, was a huge success. Coordinated by Tuckerton's John Schwartz, who brought together, the Mayor, Council members, the school superintendent, principal and school board members was highlighted by an inspiring talk from the Seaport Director, Paul Hart, about the seaport to forty (40) sixth graders. Paul spoke about the importance of Barnegat Bay and it's historical significance. With the winds howling, the students were "charged-up" by an invigorating talk by DEP's Commissioner, Bob Martin, who spoke about the Governor's initiative and reminded the students of their civic challenge. Speaking for about fifteen minutes the Commissioner, his chief of Staff and press staff trekked along the Tuckerton trail and picked up bags of debris with the children.
I would personally like to thank the Tuckerton Elementary School sixth grade teachers who championed the cause, Mrs. Evans and Mr. Ubelhoer; The Superintendent and the Principal who supported the cause and of course the forty students who worked the cause.
Lastly, but I am most appreciative to the Mayor of Tuckerton Boro, George "Buck" Evans for his unwavering support.
