Here
is what our DEP colleagues have to say about the services of the IRC:
- "I
am a microbiologist charged with providing applied research and expertise
to the Department...This work would simply not be possible without the
assistance of the Information Resource Center. The IRC is the
only place that can obtain the unbiased scientific information I need
to answer.. questions."
Tom
Atherholt, Research Scientist, Division of Science, Research and Technology,
Environmental Planning & Science.
"The
Responsible Party Investigations Unit routinely uses services and resources
at the Information Resource Center to support cost recovery investigations
and enforcement actions for the Site Remediation Program...The staff at
the Information Resource Center is very familiar with specific types of
information needed..The services of the Information Resource Center have
helped to eliminate time consuming paper searches formerly used by the
investigative staff."
Robert
Beretsky, Division of Responsible Party Site Remediation, Bureau of Fund
Management Compliance & Recovery, Responsible Party Investigations
Unit
"Biologists
from the Endangered and Nongame Species Program have received a great
deal of assistance from the IRC specifically with scientific literature
required to help design field methods...The assistance we receive..is
invaluable to our biologists. IRC staff are knowledgeable, interested,
and extremely helpful."
Amanda
Dey, Senior Biologist, Endangered and Nongame Species Program, Division
of Fish and Wildlife, Natural & Historic Resources
"I
always received prompt and timely reports which were very helpful in research
projects supporting air permitting program initiatives. IRC services
went beyond expectations and included helpful suggestions for direction
to further research."
Bill
Kuehne, Bureau of Air Quality Engineering, Air Quality Permitting Program,
Environmental Regulation
"..The
IRC has been an invaluable tool. Biological monitoring is an emerging
and dynamic field and our ability to stay on top of the latest science
is crucial to the development and execution of our programs. The IRC has
helped our bureau obtain 100% of the requested articles...The quality
of our bureau's work depends on them."
Brian
Margolis, Freshwater and Biological Monitoring, Environmental Planning
& Science
"..I
have relied on the IRC to help gather information that supports our program
in settling natural resource damage claims and restoring natural resources
injured by oil spills and hazardous waste releases."
John
Sacco, Office of Natural Resource Restoration, Natural & Historic
Resources
"..The
knowledgeable and alert staff of the IRC often proactively notify me of
papers of particular interest to me before they appear...Without these
unique and personal services, I and my colleagues in the DEP working on
mercury and other issues of critical importance to New Jersey, would not
be able to function to keep New Jersey in the forefront of environmental
science and environmental science policy."
Alan
Stern, Chief, Bureau for Risk Analysis, Division of Science, Research
and Technology, Environmental Planning & Science
"The
Office Air Quality Management includes the State Implementation Plan Preparation,
Air Monitoring, Diesel Retrofit, and Inspection and Maintenance Groups.
These groups work on various aspects of the New Jersey air program. One
aspect involves the synthesis of air quality data and the use of mathematical
models to determine the sources of air pollution, the development of emission
inventories and air quality modeling using those inventories. I have,
as well as many of the Office's staff, on many occasions, taken advantage
of the information/research services of DEP's IRC. I have always received
prompt and timely reports."
