A Word About the New Jersey Noise Control Council
In Affiliation with the Bureau of Local Environmental Management

The New Jersey Noise Control Council is a 13 member advisory body established pursuant to the Noise Control Act, N.J.S.A. 13:1G-1 et seq. (the Act), with nine public members appointed by the Governor and four representatives from various State Departments. Members serve four-year terms without compensation and are charged with considering matters related to noise control and making recommendations to the Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) on noise control regulations. They are empowered to veto the adoption, amendment or repeal of any codes, rule or regulation for the control of noise (N.J.S.A. 13:1G-18i). Meetings are held approximately ten times per year on the second Tuesday of each month at the Rutgers University Labor Education Building in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Get Involved: Members of the public are welcome to attend a Council meeting to discuss issues or concerns.
Please contact the NJDEP, Bureau of Local Environmental Management at (609) 292-1305 to be included on the Council agenda.

New Jersey Noise Control Council Members serve on a voluntary basis and do not receive monetary compensation. Employer permission must be given to attend the once-per-month, 9:30 AM to 12:00 noon meetings and other events. Meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of the month. Candidates should possess a general background in the field of noise control as it relates to the environment and law enforcement. Send your resume to:
