As part of its continuing effort to educate New Jersey residents about co-existing with black bears, the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife partnered with state government fish and wildlife agencies in New York, Florida and Arkansas, plus the New Jersey State Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs to produce the "Living with New Jersey Black Bears" DVD and the "Understanding Black Bears" curriculum.
The "Understanding Black Bears" curriculum consists of a Classroom Kit designed for students in grades K-8. Such students may not openly embrace math, history, social studies, and geography, but kids everywhere can't resist their natural fascination for bears. That's why with this new curriculum students eagerly learn math, history, social studies, geography, and so much more while exploring the exciting realm of Understanding Black Bears through videos, computer games, quizzes and hundreds of interactive pages in inquiry-based learning activities.
The Classroom Kit consists of 26-disk Binder Case and includes:
- The award-winning DVD, Living with Black Bears documentary
- 25 Interactive CD-ROMs Understanding Black Bears (Teacher and Student CDs, for both PC and Mac)
