According to the Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife, permits to hunt coyote in New Jersey are no longer required. Starting this fall, coyotes may be hunted with a valid hunting license during the seasons open for fox and are subject to the same regulations. In addition, a special coyote hunting season (no permit required; valid license needed) will be held statewide February 1 through 19, 2001.

Hunters should consult the August issue of the New Jersey Fish and Wildlife Digest for more information.
