Due to a change in printing format, turkey permits will have a new look beginning with the 2001 Spring Gobbler Season. As in the past, permits will no longer be white "slide-out" self-mailers, but have been changed to green tri-fold, perforated self-mailers.

"Hunters should make a note of the new permit format to avoid accidentally recycling their new permits as undesirable mail," said Division Director Bob McDowell.

When opened, the permit is the top portion of the mailer. In order to separate the permit from the mailer, all perforations must be torn apart.

Aside from the new printing format, the layout of the permit itself remains unchanged. To view a sample of the new permit cover, click here.

Although the spring turkey permit lottery has not been conducted yet, hunters may wish to refer to the following when planning their April schedules. Leftover spring turkey permits will be sold on Saturday, April 14, 2001, between 9 a.m. and 12 noon. As long as the supply lasts, they will continue to be sold Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1-4 p.m. at five Division field offices and the Trenton office beginning Monday, April 16, 2001.

Hunters can call the Division's Permit Hotline at 609-292-9192 after April 9, 2001 for information on leftover permit sales. In addition, the information will be distributed to the media and posted on the website at
