According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife, Garden State hunters awaiting rifle permit renewals this year will receive their permits by August 1. Normally, rifle permits expire June 30 and renewals are mailed out well before that time, however, the Division is experiencing processing delays as it awaits the purchase of a new and improved computer printer.

"The new printer will allow the Division to create rifle permits with increased quality and clarity as well as process larger volumes of information in a quicker, more efficient manner," said Division Director Bob McDowell.

Hunters should note that until they receive their renewed rifle permits, their old permits will remain valid for hunting woodchuck in the State until August 1.
