INTRODUCTION TO SHOOTING SPORTS PROGRAM SEPT. 27 IN UNION COUNTY

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Fish and Wildlife, in cooperation with the Union County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs Inc., the Union County Department of Parks and Recreation and the Cranford Rod and Gun Club, will host a free Introduction to Shooting Sports Program Saturday, Sept. 27. The event will be from noon to 4 p.m. at the Union County Trap and Skeet Range in Cranford.

Under the guidance of Division hunter education instructors, beginning shooters aged 10 and older will receive special instruction in firearm safety and can engage in a five-shot activated clay target shoot. There will also be air rifle and archery ranges for youngsters. Children between the ages of 10 and 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants may bring their own shotguns, however, shotguns, shells and clay targets will be provided by the Division’s Hunter Education Program. Those who bring their own shotguns must keep them unloaded and cased until brought to the firing line.

The range is located on Kenilworth Boulevard, Exit 138 off the Garden State Parkway.
