RECYCLING ENHANCEMENT ACT TAX FUND – COUNTY GRANTS
PURPOSE OF FUNDING
To prepare, revise and implement district solid waste management plans, including implementation of the State Recycling Plan.
SOURCE OF FUNDING
A $3.00 per ton tax on solid waste accepted for disposal or transfer at in-state facilities. Solid waste being transported out of state, either directly or by railroad, is also subject to the new recycling tax.

County government only.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
The DEP must determine that a county is meeting its solid waste management responsibilities.
GRANT/LOANS LIMITATIONS
Annual grants are based on amount of solid waste generated in each county, with no county receiving less than 2% of the available statewide fund.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Grant application forms, program announcements, application deadlines and program guidelines are sent to the counties annually.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
Grant deadlines are published in program announcements and are sent directly to the counties.
NOTIFICATION DATE
Notices of intent to award are issued approximately one month after submission of acceptable grant applications.
