CHALLENGE GRANT
(Urban and Community Forestry Program)
PURPOSE OF FUNDING
To assist municipalities in developing a Community Forestry
Management Plan. This management plan helps local government
agencies implement urban and community forestry projects.
These projects are provided under four themes: Program
Development, Implementation, Tree Maintenance, and Research
Projects.
SOURCE OF FUNDING
This year’s $60,000 grant program is funded by
the USDA Forest Service through the national Urban and
Community Forestry Program.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE
Any municipal or county government agency that agrees
to contribute a sum equal to or greater than half the
grant amount.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR
CONSIDERATION
Applications must meet the minimum criteria eligibility
requirements as outlined in the application package.
GRANT LIMITATIONS
50/50 match can be in-kind contributions.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Applications available upon request. Interested agencies
must submit a complete application to the Community
Forestry Program. A random drawing will decide which
applicants receive funding from all eligible applicants.
