SMALL BUSINESS CONFERENCE TO OFFER
COMPREHENSIVE INFO ON STATE ENVIRONMENTAL, ENERGY AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

Small business owners interested in saving money through pollution prevention and energy conservation can learn about state environmental and financial assistance programs at a free conference to be held Sept. 21 in East Windsor.

The conference, sponsored by the NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the New Jersey Commerce & Economic Growth Commission, includes presentations from DEP, the Commerce Commission, PSEG, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority's Commercial Lending Division, the state Dept. of Labor, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Compliance Assistance Program, the NJ Institute of Technology, and the Rutgers University Office of Industrial Productivity and Energy Assessment.

"The Small Business Environmental and Financial Assistance Conference is designed to help small business owners comply with environmental regulations and realize the money saving potential of pollution prevention and energy efficiency initiatives, as well as identify programs to help finance these endeavors," said DEP Commissioner Bob Shinn.

"We're pleased to co-sponsor this comprehensive, one-day seminar to help further the growth of small businesses in the Garden State," said Commerce Commission Chief Executive Officer and Secretary Charles E. (Sandy) Hance. "I urge business owners to take advantage of this unique opportunity to discover how waste reduction, energy efficiency and other environmental programs can improve their operations and their bottom line."

The Sept. 21 conference will be held at the National Conference Center at the Ramada Inn of East Windsor from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no charge but participants must register on-line at www.state.nj.us/dep/opppc/conference.htm or call toll-free at 1-877-753-1151. Lunch will be provided.

The event is made possible through a grant from the U.S. EPA and is offered through DEP's Small Business Environmental Assistance Program and the Commerce Commission's Small Business Ombudsman. For more information, call DEP at 1-877-753-1151 or 609-292-3600.
