Park Advisories

Allaire State Park

As of 3/10/16, please keep out of the JCP&L Right-of-Way/construction zone and obey posted signs. The fishing access road on Herbertsville Road will not open for trout season this year due to construction in the area. Any questions, please call 1-866-840-3765.
Oceanview Reinforcement Project

Bulls Island Recreation Area

The D&R Canal Feeder towpath will be closed between the Lambertville Lock to Fireman's Eddy parking area beginning on Monday, June 5th through June 23rd, 2017.  Every effort will be made to have this area opened on Saturday and Sunday during this time frame.   Sorry for the inconvenience while we make a needed structural repair.

Attention park users, Hydrilla and invasive aquatic species has been found in the D&R Canal.   There is ongoing management by the New Jersey Water Supply within the park.  For more information go to: http://www.njwsa.org/html/hydrilla.html

As part of the Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project,   construction activities on Interstate 95 may impact the use of the D&R Canal Park and will require temporary stoppages and/or closures of the towpath and canal.   Closure schedules will be updated periodically as the work progresses.

Corson's Inlet State Park

Due to beachfront erosion we have temporarily suspended the Catamaran Storage Program. Please contact the Belleplain State Forest office at 609-861-2404 for additional information.

Be aware that the beach at Corson's Inlet is inaccessible at high tide. Hurricane Sandy caused severe erosion to the beach. It is suggested you visit the beach to view the conditions before you purchase your permit. Refunds will not be issued due to the existing conditions.

Double Trouble State Park

Effective March 28, 2014, the White Bridge Cedar Creek Access location at Double Trouble Village is restricted to walk-in use and livery services holding a valid commercial special use permit.  Canoes and kayaks must be carried to the White Bridge from the Village parking area, a distance of approximately 3/10 of a mile.  Vehicles are no longer permitted to drive through Double Trouble Village.

Hacklebarney State Park

The park office at Hacklebarney is temporarily closed. Information regarding Hacklebarney State Park can be obtained by contacting Spruce Run Recreation Area at (908) 638-8572.

Hopatcong State Park

Lake Hopatcong Aquatic Vegetation Removal Update:  The removal of aquatic vegetation by the harvesters has been delayed this year due to issues with getting the necessary parts in order to make the harvesters operable.  We anticipate that the aquatic vegetation harvest will begin the week of  June 19th, 2017.

Liberty State Park

Shuttle buses are currently NOT operating in the park until further notice.

The park is open, but the Nature Interpretive Center Building is still closed due to Hurricane Sandy storm damage.

Long Pond Ironworks State Park

Approximately a 3/4 mile portion of the Hasenclever Iron Trail is temporarily closed to the public in the area of Peter's Mine. From the Ringwood Manor side it is approximately 1.5 miles in and 4 miles in from Long Pond Ironworks. There is currently no reroute, please plan accordingly. For more information call the park office.

Ramapo Mountain State Forest

The parking area and trail access point located on Barbara Drive within Town of Pompton Lakes has been closed by the property owner.  Trail users are no longer able to access the South Ridge or Cannonball Trails from this area.  Visitors are encouraged to utilize the parking area on Pool Hollow Road or either of the established parking areas on Skyline Drive.  For more information please contact the Ringwood State Park Office at (973) 962-7031.

Due to the closure of the bridge across Ringwood Brook, the segment of the Ringwood/Ramapo (red) and Crossover (white) Trails between Parking Lot B in the Ringwood Manor section and Sloatsburg Road is currently closed. Access to these trails and adjoining trails is available from the Shepherd Lake section of the park.

Spruce Run Recreation Area

Due to the ongoing release of water from Spruce Run Reservoir to meet the demands of the New Jersey Water Supply Authority customer needs, the water level has fallen below the boat launch docks.  Boaters may experience some difficulty in launching their boats.

Stokes State Forest

The wooden bridge going to Stony Lake is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until further notice. Pedestrians can park at Kittle Field and walk the Brown trail up to Stony Lake.

Grau and Crigger Roads are opened, along with Struble Road going to Tillmans Ravine.

Voorhees State Park

Camping reservations and other information regarding Voorhees State Park can be obtained by contacting Spruce Run Recreation Area at (908) 638-8572.

Wharton State Forest

Please be advised that the Harrisville Lake section of Wharton State Forest is temporarily closed to visitors due to tree removal activities.The contractor is using heavy equipment and telling work cannot be safely performed with vehicles and patrons being. We suggest that visitors travel a few miles east and enjoy Lake Absegami in Bass River State Forest.  Lifeguards staff the lake 5 days a week.  Ample parking. barbeque grills and picnic tables are provided. The informal parking area at Harrisville Lake will reopen as soon as an inspection takes place, anticipated by June 15th. As a reminder swimming is expressly prohibited at this popular day use area and is open from dawn to dusk daily.

Road grading maintenance is happening on a number of roads which were rebuilt in the past years (Carranza, Tuckerton, High Crossing).  While these roads are not closed to traffic, motorists should exercise caution if they encounter a road grader, slow down and give the road crew space to operate safely.
