News about the Discharge Prevention Program


March, 2014   The rule for Discharges of Petroleum and Other Hazardous Substances, N.J.A.C. 7:1E, has been readopted and administrative changes have been made to the rule. The readopted and revised rule, can be downloaded from the Discharge Prevention Downloads web page. The notices of readoption and administrative changes can be viewed and downloaded from the Office of Legal Affairs webpage.

January, 2014 Revised guidance documents are now available on the Discharge Prevention Downloads Web Page addressing plan renewals and annual audits. Guidance is also available on many other topics, including tank inspections and how to demonstrate financial responsibility.

There have been a number of questions raised since the adoption of the Site Remediation rules concerning how they interact with the Discharge Prevention rules. Please use the following link for information on how the two rules apply to discharges at major facilities:
