INTRODUCTION

The Registration and Support Section within the Bureau of X-Ray Compliance (Bureau) is responsible for processing all requests for registration and collection of associated fees for all facilities with x-ray units in New Jersey. In addition, this Section is responsible for assessing annual registration renewal fees. This Section is also responsible for the scheduling of all x-ray facility inspections.

Registering an X-Ray Unit

The registrant of the x-ray unit must complete and return to the Bureau a "Radiation Producing Machine Registration Form" within 30 days of installation. Click here to obtain a registration form. Complete the form then print it to mail it or fax it to the Bureau. You can also email the completed form to the Bureau. The Bureau will generate and mail an invoice for the application fee and pro-rated annual fee after processing your registration request.

A registrant must have a radiation safety survey performed for each x-ray installation. The survey must be performed by an individual with appropriate qualifications for the type of the equipment registered. To obtain a list of qualified individuals for various types of x-ray equipment click here.

Temporary Registrations

Any planned x-ray installation for period not to exceed 60 days is eligible for temporary registration. Temporary registrations are exempt from the annual registration fee; however, a $40.00 application fee is still required. To obtain a temporary registration click here.
