Delaware Estuary Teacher Education Institute

The Delaware Estuary Teacher Education Institute will provide 30 teachers from Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania with the opportunity to explore and experience the geographic, scientific, economic, cultural, and historic resources of the Estuary. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is one of many partners that support this Institute.

The week-long residential summer program will be a mixture of classroom and field experiences that will provide the participants with a greater understanding of the wide variety of resource use issues within the Estuary and the interconnections between human actions and Estuary ecosystems. During the week, teachers will gain information, references, methods, and activities directly applicable for classroom use.

Upon completion of the Institute, participants will become part of a regional network of educators, who can motivate and support each other in providing knowledgeable and creative Estuary education.
