This web site was designed, and is maintained by, the Environmental Education Program in the Office of Communications, part of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The site is updated on a regular basis. Its comprehensiveness and currency are made possible through the ongoing cooperation of numerous department programs and staff.

The purpose of this web site is two-fold:

  • To promote the environmental education information and resources that are directly supported by DEP, either through its programs or through formal and ongoing alliances and partnerships; and,

  • To educate the public about the field of environmental education, including its purpose, goals and role in the DEP.

The availability of the resources, expertise and materials listed varies from program to program. In most cases the materials are free of copyright restrictions and can be freely reproduced.

Users of these materials, projects and programs should note that they usually can be adapted to many instructional settings and audiences beyond what is recommended at this site.

DEP's State Environmental Education Directory Web Site user tips:

  • Each title in the pull-down bar above links to a specific section in SEEDS and includes a brief description of what is offered in that section, along with a list of linkable "Contents".

  • The acorn in the banner above links directly to the "Topical Reference Index" page. This page is useful if you are trying to locate DEP educational resources on such topics as "recycling" or "watersheds".

  • The banner/logo within the "Additional Information" box, on each resource page links to the division or organization that operates the resource being promoted. The link may not be directly to that resource - for direct links refer to the address within the "Additional Information" box at the bottom of each resource page.
