The NJDEP Division of Water Monitoring and Standard's Bureau of Environmental Analysis Restoration and Standards (BEARS) has developed protocols for performing a habitat assessment and a biological (aquatic benthic macroinvertebrate) assessment of stream health. These NJDEP protocols include a manual and data forms that are available under the headings below. The AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassador Program currently follows these protocols to conduct stream assessments for the Department. These protocols may be used to collect data that can enhance your groupís ability to promote community education and participation in watershed stewardship. These protocols may also be used to develop or refine a Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for your organization to ensure the quality and confidence level of your data.
