ELL Intake Procedures

Home Language Survey: One of the important ways to assist the school district with a determination of the need for ESL and/or Bilingual instruction.

• Parents should be given a home language survey to complete either at registration or at home.
• The home language survey should be written in both English and native language of parents.
• It should ask parents in which language they wish to receive correspondence from the school.
• Every effort should be made to send important correspondence home in native language, if requested.
