9/11 Activities
The Holocaust Commission is currently working on four (4) projects to support the education of students about 9/11.
- As part of a 4 Action collaboration consisting of Liberty Science Center, Families of September 11, and the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education and working with teachers who have volunteered their services have completed a K-12 curriculum that deals with more than the day of 9/11, but with the causes, the day, and the aftermath. - Cooperating with Voices of 9/11 we are developing some training programs regarding their collected histories and a project being Holocaust and 9/11 survivors together.
- Volunteer teachers working with the National 9/11 Museum in New York are developing lessons for the many artifacts that will be on display. Samples will be ready during the 2011/12 school year and finalized in conjunction with the opening of the Museum.
- Teacher training programs on how to teach traumatic issues such as the 9/11 experience will be presented in cooperation with the New Jersey State Museum.

The staff of the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey were asked to write an online edition of Dimensions for the Anti-Defamation League

The core mission of the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education is to promote Holocaust education in the State of New Jersey. On a continual basis, the Commission shall survey the status of Holocaust/Genocide Education; design, encourage nd promote the implementation of Holocaust and genocide education and awareness; provide programs in New Jersey; and coordinate designated events that will provide appropriate memorialization of the Holocaust on a regular basis throughout the state. The Commission will provide assistance and advice to the public and private schools and will meet with county and local school officials, and other interested public and private organizations, to assist with the study of the Holocaust and genocide.
