Numbers are everything
Life and Death
Numbers help us think
Help us grow
Help us learn
Yet numbers are not always what they seem to be
You can count people in a room
But you can also count corpses on the ground
You can count heartbeats
But you can also count gunshots
Numbers can be used to help or to harm
Just like water or fire
Water can hydrate and water can drown
Fire can light but it can also burn
But what can numbers do?
Can numbers quench a dying thirst?
Can numbers light a dark cave?
Numbers were given
But couldn't be taken
They were a constant reminder
Of how cruel the world can be
So next time you look at a number
That although the numbers caused pain
Numbers are simply tools
The strength of numbers
Comes from he who uses them
And although they were a reminder
And although they brought back vicious memories
Maybe that is the most important thing of all
