Commissioner of Education William L. Librera will outline to the State Board of Education a proposed corrective course of action aimed at amending the existing state school district takeover law and returning to local control the three state-operated school districts.
Dr. Librera will make public his recommended Action Plan and the Executive Summary of a report prepared by Rutgers Professor Paul Tractenberg at the Work Session of the State Board of Education beginning at 1 p.m. tomorrow. The Work Session will be held in the first floor conference room of the Department of Education, 100 River View Plaza (off Route 29 South), near Waterfront Park.
Reporters will have opportunities to review the 32-page Executive Summary of the report and the Department of Educations response, and they will be able to interview Commissioner Librera both before and after his presentation. Below lists all of the times and locations for coverage:
Wednesday, June 19
- 9 a.m. Reporters obtain copies of the Executive Summary and the Department of Educations Action Plan in the third floor conference room of the Department of Education, 100 River View Plaza.
- 10 a.m. Commissioner Librera will be available to respond to questions from the news media.
- 1 p.m. Commissioner Librera makes presentation to State Board of Education.
- 2 p.m. (approximately) Commissioner Librera will be available to respond to questions from the news media.
